Teeth Cleaning
In almost every aspect of life, it pays to be proactive rather than reactive. The same applies to dental health. One of the best ways to keep your teeth protected again decay is going in for regular teeth cleaning. At Diamond Bar Dental Studio, we believe in solving problems before they arise. We provide teeth cleanings that serve to keep your teeth and smile healthy. Don’t let tooth decay get a foothold in your mouth. Take preventative measures to ensure your smile stays clean and clear.
What Happens During a Teeth Cleaning?
A dental cleaning usually is broken up into several steps. Each part of a cleaning is designed to improve the current state of your teeth and protect them going into the future.
Assessing the Situation
Before the cleaning starts, we look at the state of your teeth. We look for any signs of gum disease or other oral health concerns. If everything looks good, we proceed.
Target Plaque and Tartar
Using a scaler, we remove any buildup that is clinging to your teeth. This is a key aspect of why dental teeth cleanings are so important, as you can’t remove these at home.
Gritty Toothpaste
Once the buildup is gone, we get started on a special kind of teeth brushing. Using specialized toothpaste that gently scrubs your teeth, we further remove any lingering buildup. Usually, this tastes just like regular toothpaste.
Pro Flossing
Once your teeth are looking sparkling clean, we finish up the “cleaning” part with expert-level flossing. We get any lingering debris that’s in those hard-to-reach places.
Rinse It Out
This is what it sounds like. You get a thorough rinsing to flush out the toothpaste and any debris leftover from your cleaning.
Fluoride Application
The finale of a dental cleaning is when we apply a special fluoride paste to your teeth. This part doesn’t “clean” your teeth exactly, but it does protect them from decay in the coming weeks. By having this over your teeth, they will better resist decay.
It even comes in different flavors!
Other Steps
During your regular dentist visits, you might also have some other steps included before or after your cleaning.
X-Rays are a standard step during your visit. They help dentists get a look inside your teeth, which a physical exam can’t do on its own.
Also, if any cavities are spotted, we will recommend treatment options for you. Sometimes, you can get a filling the same day.
After Your Cleaning
You’ll walk out of our office with your teeth prepared to continue their fight against decay. We usually recommend waiting at least half an hour before eating.
Besides that, you are free to go about your day. Just remember to come back after another six months for your next cleaning.
It might seem like an inconvenience, but we guarantee you that it is to keep you from more notable trouble down the road.
