Dental Implants Diamond Bar

Dental implants are a viable and permanent solution to many dental disorders. Implants help with complications due to tooth loss or the need for dentures. Over the past twenty years, dental implants have been improving. The science and technology for implants now make them more predictable and reliable. Similar to more traditional dental restorative procedures such as crowns and bridges. Dr. Cho and Dr. Jeon are specially trained in implant dentistry and will give you a smile you’ve been missing. If you are missing one tooth or multiple teeth, please contact our office today.
Why should I get dental implants?
When some people smile, it’s quite evident they are missing teeth. Many opt for dental implants for improved cosmetic appearances. Others get implants for various other dental problems, such as needing a simple crown or bridge to a full upper and lower jaw set of dentures. Whatever the reason, we live in a day and age where we have many choices. One of those, in particular, is dental implants at Diamond Bar Dental Studio.
What are dental implants made of and how do they work?
Implants consist of a variety of materials that are compatible with the human body. The most common material includes titanium. When inserted into the jaw, implants fuse with the bone causing the implanted tooth to be more stable. This is a great advantage for someone who needs to have a full set of dentures. Since we custom-fit construct implants in the mouth, they can snap into place securely without pain or discomfort.
What are the benefits of implant dentistry?
There are many benefits to having dental implants. If a tooth is lost and isn’t replaced, over time, there will be bone loss in that section of the jaw where the tooth was. Wearing dentures can be awkward when they slip and hinder from eating or talking regularly. Implants will improve these areas and establish self-esteem in the patient once more. After a short period, the implanted tooth feel like their natural teeth. Another benefit is that implants can last over a lifetime if cared for properly. Thus it’s essential to have them routinely checked by Dr. Cho and Dr. Jeon.
How long does it take to recover?
Dental implants are a two-part process. A titanium artificial tooth root is surgically placed into the jawbone by Dr. Cho or Dr. Jeon. The titanium implant is just below the level of gum tissue, and a small hole is left in the gum over the top of the implant. A “healing cap” prevents the gum tissue from growing over or into the implant.
A period of six (6) weeks to several months is required for the titanium implant to “integrate” with the jawbone. That means that the bone attaches to the implant to provide stability. Keep in mind that this attachment is not the same as with a natural tooth. Implants can’t move orthodontically nor have exposure to forces that cause natural teeth to move in response. For this reason, if implants are needed, the dentist must plan the number of implants carefully. While also considering the type of restoration placed on the implants.
What if I have multiple missing teeth?
There can be several single-tooth implants placed either next to one another. Or they can be in various locations around the mouth where teeth are missing. When there are many missing teeth, it’s a more cost-effective place two or three implants than a fixed bridge. There will be more teeth showing on the bridge than there are implants, just like with traditional bridges on natural teeth. These are also supported by abutments screwed into the implants as with single tooth implants.
All-On-4 Dental Implants
If you need to replace an entire row of teeth, then all-on-4 dental implants could be for you. They deliver all the stability of dental implants but with the complete restoration offered by a set of dentures.
Traditional dentures tend to be displaced or knocked out easily. However, all-on-4 utilizes the same technique as dental implants to affix a set of replacement teeth to.
How Does All-on-4 Work?
Your surgeon strategically places four metallic implants into either your upper or lower jaw. These four posts will serve as anchors for your replacement set of teeth. When you affix your replacement teeth to these posts, you no longer need to worry about them falling out or becoming dislodged.
You can receive this procedure for either the top row of teeth, the bottom row, or both!
Is All-On-4 Right For Me?
The main qualification to receive all-on-4 dental implants is to have enough bone mass. Your jaw must have a sufficient amount of bone to hold and fuse to the metal implant posts. However, if you do not have enough, you can often have a bone grafting procedure first. This straightforward procedure helps patients achieve the right amount of bone mass to receive all-on-4 implants.
You can receive this procedure for either the top row of teeth, the bottom row, or both!
Removable dentures are an option, too.
When there are many missing teeth (or all of them), implants support a removable denture. In these cases, several implants are linked together with a cast metal bar screwed into the implants on short posts. On the underside of the denture, clips insert onto the bar between the implants. A denture made this way is vastly more comfortable than a traditional denture. This is because it largely rests on the bar instead of the tissue. They are thus eliminating many of the sore spots caused by dentures. Additionally, the denture is locked into place by the clips. These clips are very stable, unlike dentures, which tend to slip and shift or come entirely out much more quickly.
